Legal

What this campaign collects, why it collects it, how long it keeps it, and how to make it stop.

Draft for review. This notice accurately describes how the website behaves, but it has not yet been reviewed by the campaign's legal or privacy advisor. It must be before launch.

Who is responsible

This website is published by the Rahmat Mansoor campaign, a candidate campaign for Ward 3 Councillor in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario. It is not operated by the Town, and it is not a municipal service. Questions about anything on this page go to ward3@rahmatmansoor.ca.

What is collected

Only what you type into a form. There are five forms on this site, and each one collects a specific, limited set of fields:

  • Contact form: your name, email, an optional phone number, a subject and your message.
  • Resident issue form: the same contact details, plus the category, area, street or intersection and description of the issue.
  • Volunteer form: your name, email, optional phone, the general area you live in, the roles you are interested in, your availability, languages and any notes.
  • Newsletter signup: your first name and email address.
  • Event RSVP: your name, email, the number of guests and any accessibility requirements you tell us about.

Each submission is also stored with the time it was received and a short one-way hash derived from your IP address. That hash exists only so the campaign can spot automated abuse of the forms. Your IP address itself is not stored.

What is deliberately not collected

This site does not build voter profiles. It does not score political preference, infer voting intention, tag anyone as a supporter or an opponent, or attempt to link your submission to a household, an electoral list or any commercial data set. There are no fields for it and no code to do it.

There are also no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, no third-party analytics cookies, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to. Embedded videos are not loaded until you press play, so simply reading a page does not hand your visit to YouTube or Vimeo.

Why it is collected

To reply to you, to arrange volunteer shifts, to send the newsletter you asked for, to plan events, and to keep a record of the local issues residents raise. Nothing more.

Consent is always explicit. Every form has an unticked box that you must tick yourself, and the volunteer form records consent to be contacted and consent to receive the newsletter as two separate permissions, so you can withdraw one without the other.

Who it is shared with

Your details are never sold, rented or traded. They are visible to the small number of campaign staff and volunteers who need them to do the thing you asked for.

Two categories of service provider may process data on the campaign's behalf: the email service that delivers notifications to the campaign and, if you subscribe, the email marketing platform that sends the newsletter. Both act under contract and only on the campaign's instructions.

How long it is kept

Campaign records are kept for the period the Municipal Elections Act and the campaign's financial reporting obligations require, and then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Volunteer records are kept for the duration of the campaign unless you ask for them to be removed sooner.

Your choices

You can ask what the campaign holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email ward3@rahmatmansoor.ca and say what you would like. No particular form of words is needed. Every newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are validated and sanitised on the server, rate limited by origin, and protected by automated spam checks. Access to stored submissions requires authentication. No system is perfect, and the campaign will tell affected people promptly if something goes wrong.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and the campaign does not knowingly collect information from them. If a young person has submitted a form and a parent or guardian would like it removed, email the address above and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, the updated version will be posted here. Please also read the terms and disclaimer.
